Business and Property Disputes

Business Owners: A business split is akin to the termination of a marriage of individuals. It, however, need not be destructive of what is held in common. We give counsel about how to preserve value when a lawsuit has begun.

Property Owners: Boundary and other property disputes can easily spin out of control and cost more than the amounts at issue. Commercial arbitration is one means of deciding who is correct.

Controversies with Government Agencies: The power of government is limited by law, and government officials sometimes need to be reminded of their boundaries.

Contract Problems:
A contract is supposed to prevent disputes, but it may not. Business knowledge and legal analysis can have as much importance as trial technique when litigation erupts.

Inheritance: The death of a family member may release previously suppressed controversy. If clients want to try to preserve relationships, we often suggest mediation before litigation escalates.

You can expect us to assist you with ---

  • Vigorous negotiations toward settlement of your case
  • Aggressive conduct of trials
  • Thoughtful presentations in mediation
  • Commercial arbitration of complex cases like construction disputes
  • Defense of charges by government agencies
  • An appeal to a higher court when justice demands it
